We recently got an email from a woman entrepreneur asking about loans for small businesses. We thought it would be good too to share the links that we gave to her.
Unknown to many, SME Bank does offer loans to small businesses, even micro businesses.
Here are some of them (as taken from their website: http://www.smebank.com.my/public/classification-of-sme/micro-business/)
Special Micro Programmes
TABUNG USAHAWAN SISWAZAH (TUS) – Graduate Entrepreneurs Fund
This special scheme encourages university graduates to become entrepreneurs in specific sectors. The scheme also includes an incubator programme (Program Inkubator Usahawan Siswazah or PIUS) to support the business planning and knowledge needs of these young entrepreneurs.
SKIM PEMBIAYAAN EKONOMI DESA (SPED) – Cottage Economy Funding Scheme
Funded by the Ministry of Rural Development, this programme offers entrepreneurs funding for small businesses in the rural areas.
SKIM MODAL ASAS (SMA) – Basic Capital Scheme
A program to develop entrepreneurship in the national batik and the handicraft industry, offers credit facilities from RM20,000 to RM250,000.
OTHER MICRO PROGRAMMES
The SME Bank also works with other partners who are already involved in SME funding and development to support Micro-business development. The Micro partnership programmes ensure that these businesses are given effective support by the different organisations serving start-up businesses.
