Bukit Mertajam, Penang (1 October 2016) – Women aspiring to start their own business or women who are already in business discovered plenty of resources, opportunities, connections and knowledge at the recent women entrepreneurship showcase titled WE R.O.C.K Day held at Iconic Hotel at Bukit Mertajam. (WE R.O.C.K is an acronym for Women Entrepreneur Resources, Opportunities, Connections and Knowledge.)
YB Chong Eng (State Exco for Penang Youth, Sports, Women, Family and Community Development) officiated this event. Other guests-of-honour at this event were:

Organized by WomenBizSENSE, a women entrepreneur association known for promoting entrepreneurship in Penang, this showcase was unique in that it allowed women to explore resources and opportunities in starting, managing or growing a business.
The 10am to 5pm event was filled with educational topics such as starting your e-commerce website, how to grow your business profitably and how to turn your business into a franchise. Our speakers included Sofia Leong Abdullah, an expert on franchising, Jeanne Ooi, a business coach of ActionCOACH Penang, and many more.
Visitors also visited some 50 exhibitors’ booths owned by women entrepreneurs.
Business and women organisations such as IWFCI (International Women Federation of Commerce & Industry), JCI Pearl, BNI (Business Network International), and the Indonesian Consulate exhibited too.
Visitors also participated in a “Collect Your Wings” game for a chance to win seats at business and game workshops offered by ActionCOACH, Redbox Studio and WomenBizSENSE.
They also had the chance to win exclusive heart-shaped pen drives contributed by Nova Mulia Development, books offered by authors Maresa Ng, Dr YKK and Nancy Ong, and Melilea soyamilk products.
Those who stayed on at the end of the day also won exclusive prizes worth a total of RM14,400 in the Grand Draw such as ActionCOACH’s 3-months’ worth of business coaching, Redbox Studio’s e-commerce and website systems, Elizabeth Hor’s image transformation packages and IMPAR’s branding package.
