WomenBizSENSE members are opening their outlets and shops in Penang as collection points for you to drop off clothes, medicines, food, water and other supplies to be sent to the people of the Philippines affected recently by Typhoon Yolanda. This initiative to help comes from one of our members, Jeanette Hee.

Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) is one of the world’s strongest storms ever in recorded history to devastate the city of Tacloban in Leyte, Philippines. At least 10,000 people are feared to have been killed, according to the BBC.

Penangites are known for their kindness and generosity. We need your help in cash and kind. Here are some quick reminders before you drop off your items.

1.Cash donation is a preferable option.
2. List of items needed: Water, clothes, shoes, soaps, shampoo, candles, medicines for surface wounds/fever/pain/antibiotics, ready-to-eat food in cans or without needing to cook.
3. Donate clothes which still can be used by the Filipinos who are now living temporarily at evacuation centres.
4. If you’re donating soaps or shampoos or toothbrushes, pack them in sets of 5, good for at least a family of 5 to use. This means 5 pieces of soap, 5 toothbrushes etc. If in doubt, please contact us.
