Some of you may know about Relay For Life (RFL), an annual event held in Youth Park to raise cancer awareness and raise funds for cancer survivors. Find out more at www.relayforlife.org.my
Cancer is the 3rd biggest killer in Malaysia and some of us know people who have been affected by cancer, fought and survived or people who have lost their lives.
This year, WomenBizSENSE (WBS) is represented by members who are participating in the walk which starts at 5pm onwards on 14 June (Saturday).
Besides this, we have also realized that this non-profit event is run entirely by volunteers, people just like you and me.
As the event runs from 5pm on Saturday until 10am on Sunday (yes people walk throughout the night, sacrificing sleep) the RFL volunteers need to be provided with meals.
This year in the spirit of supporting cancer survivors and to appreciate the good work of the volunteers, WBS plans to sponsor the volunteers’ food packs during this event.
Costing wise, it takes about RM900 to feed the 250 volunteers. This works out to about RM3.60 per meal for each person.
If you are interested to contribute cash (a minimum contribution of RM50 – contribute more if you choose to), please let us know.
You may not be participating in RFL as “relayers” during the event but we can do our part to support the kind and generous souls who are volunteering to make this event a success for all.
When you contribute, we will list your name and your company name on our website under a special page called “WBS Helps Relay For Life 2014”.
All it takes is 18 members each contributing RM50 to enable us to reach our RM900 target.
