2 April 2024 — The MDRT Foundation has awarded a grant of US$2,500 (RM11,818) to WomenBizSENSE’s subcommittee, NextGen, through the recommendation of Mr Lim Jin Kuang of JK Advisory, a Penang agency under AIA Berhad.
NextGen is an innovative project, led by Chen Li Li, Hayzel Cheah and Sylvia Ang, to provide children aged 7-12 with a transformative learning experience. The project is advised by Datin Josephine Yoong and Krista Goon, the co-founders of WomenBizSENSE.
By combining interactive sessions, exposure to various fields, and nurturing interpersonal skills, NextGen aims to empower young minds. Through group work, children learn to express, share ideas and work together harmoniously. The trainers and instructors are entrepreneurs in Penang with a wealth of experience, knowledge and passion.
In 2023, the team organised events such as FINTEGRITY financial literacy board games, introduction to the Chinese strategy game of Wei Qi, public speaking workshops, vocal training, terrarium planting, and car boot sales with pre-loved items and hydroponic farm tours for the children.
This year, the team is excited to create more captivating activities to promote active learning, fostering critical thinking and soft skills for more children in Penang. One of the programmes is the upcoming WBS Next Gen Kidspreneur Bazaar 2024 to be held at Wisma AIA, Straits Quay on 8 June 2024 in collaboration with AIA Berhad. This bazaar aims to encourage children to become entrepreneurial and confident as they set up their booths to sell their handmade products.
